History & Social Sciences
History at Seoul Scholars International Busan examines the moments and eras that have shaped how we interact with the world today. Students are encouraged to explore history from multiple perspectives, developing a broader and more nuanced global understanding while recognizing the limits of their own knowledge.

Encouraging Healthy Skepticism
By examining historical questions from multiple viewpoints, students learn to approach the past with critical awareness and place historical experiences in context as they consider how those experiences shape their present and future.

Developing an Open Mind
Critical and creative thinking – the ability to evaluate both quantitative and qualitative information and apply knowledge in new contexts – is a core competency at Seoul Scholars International Busan. The History Department teaches students to identify key ideas from primary and secondary sources and synthesize evidence into thoughtful interpretations, expressed clearly in discussions, assessments, and extended research projects.

Recognizing Intellectual Humility
History documents the influence of heritage, environment, and the development of political, social, and economic systems. By acknowledging the limits of their own understanding, students move beyond simplified narratives. Inquiry, close examination, research, and dynamic debate are central to the learning process
